Slow to pay up

LARGE construction companies are taking 83 days on average to pay subbies and suppliers, according to credit specialist Experian. The statistics show that average payment periods are still rising despite government legislation to speed up slow payers. Small construction companies pay their bills after 57 days on average and medium-sized firms after 62 days leading to an industrywide average of 58.09 - making construction the 23rd slowest payer among the 29 industries surveyed.
