SMEs swamped by bureaucracy

THE HEAD of the Strategic Forum's new specialist group looking at the needs of small construction firms said he wants to tackle the bureaucracy swamping SMEs.

Herbert H Drew boss Bill Rabbetts, who is chairing the subgroup, said at the NFB's conference: 'There are small businesses filling in the same answers in the same forms again and again for the public and private sector.

'We are looking at establishing core corporate competencies which firms can give to clients, so they can cut out the repetition and put the wasted time back into their businesses.'

The group, which has met twice so far, will also be looking at ways to communicate industry improvement initiatives with smaller firms.
