Snooker star on cue as Jewson makes kids' wishes come true

SNOOKER legend Willie Thorne has helped Jewson raise more than £282,000 for the When You Wish Upon A Star charity.

Willie drew the winner of a nationwide raffle organised by the timber and builders' merchant to raise cash to grant wishes to sick children.

Other activities included fancy dress days and sponsored walks as well as more audacious challenges such as parachute jumping, swimming with sharks and volcano climbing.

The money raised took 80 sick children and carers to Lapland to meet Father Christmas.

The charity has granted more than 5,000 wishes to sick children, including theme park trips and meeting pop stars.

Willie said: 'Jewson has raised a fantastic amount of money. It is great to see what happiness wishes can bring to these kids.'

Jewson managing director Peter Hindle added: 'It gives me great pleasure to present a cheque that will allow this charity to grant wishes to even more children.'
