Southwark Council shortlists three for BSF scheme

Southwark Council has shortlisted three bidders for its £220 million Building Schools for the Future programme.

The bidders for the south London scheme are Transform Schools, including Balfour Beatty; Vinci Investments; and a Mouchel Parkman-Babcock partnership.

The scheme will involve rebuilding and refurbishing 12 schools in the borough.

The three teams have until April to return their tenders.

After evaluation the council will shortlist two bidders. It will name a preferred bidder in October 2008, with financial close scheduled for March 2009.

The successful bidder will work on two sample school schemes and if successful, they will then work on the other 10 schools to complete the deal.

The schools are expected to be completed by 2014.
