LAING has begun 1996 with a batch of projects worth more than 62 million.

In London, the company has started work on Armour and Union House and St Martins House, a 37 million, 10-storey office and refurbishment project at St Pauls.

St Martins Property Investments is behind the project, which includes building a 22,000 sq m concrete framed structure and the refurbishment of an existing Grade II listed building.

The work is due to finish in October 1997.

In the North, Laing is due to begin work on the new Leeds Grammar School. The 14.6 million school is due to open in June 1997.

In a second northern contract, Laing is building a 5 million five-storey office block in Sunderland. The 65-week contract is for Terrace Hill Developments.

Laing has also landed a 39-week 3.5 million design and construct project for BAA at Heathrows Terminal 1 international arrivals baggage claim area.

And the company has also won contracts worth 3 million for work at St Anthonys Hospital in North Cheam and at the University of Leicester.
