Steelfixers gain first NVQ training centre

BRITAIN'S first centre specialising in training steelfixers for NVQs was approved by the CITB and exam body City & Guilds last week.

Steelfixers. co. uk was given the goahead by the joint awarding bodies to provide specialist on-site assessment and training programmes.

Chief executive Dennis O'Neill said: 'Our first task is to help contractors understand that successful tendering is becoming more reliant on being able to show that their steelfixers hold a Level 2 CSCS card.

'But the number of steelfixer assessors in the country is still very small and even we are finding it difficult to recruit quality assessors.'
