Sunderland Uni unveil £75m revamp scheme

A multimillion-pound scheme to change the face of the University of Sunderland's city campus has been unveiled.

About £75 million will be spent on the former Chester Road campus to build a sport and recreation facility, high-quality hotel and conference facilities, new student accommodation, new university square, widespread landscaping and traffic calming.

The flagship of the new development is known as CitySpace, and will be built in Chester Road.

University vice-chancellor professor Peter Fidler said: "This latest phase in our long-term development highlights our commitment to our students, our community, our city and our region."
