Supply chain firms safe in rail chief 's shake-up

RAILTRACK chairman John Robinson is restructuring the company to reduce bureaucracy.

The announcement follows the sacking last week of chief operating officer Johnson Cox.

Mr Robinson denied up to 1,000 managerial jobs would also go.

'We are short of people at the front line and have too many at the back, ' he said. 'There is too much bureaucracy.

'We are more likely to see people moving about rather than job losses.'

He said the review would not affect contractors that qualified for Railtrack's strategic supply chain under former major projects director Simon Murray.
