Swansea council wants 14,500 new homes by 2016

About 14,500 news homes and 380 ha of commercial developments would be built in Swansea over the next eight years under new plans by the local council.

Swansea City Council has this week released its new unitary development plan which sets outs potential housing and regeneration up until 2016.

It is expected to be adopted by cabinet in the coming weeks.

Head of planning services Bryan Graham said: "The UDP will serve as the main guide for which planning applications are determined over the next eight years.

"We have carried out substantial consultation with developers and members of the public and have now reached the final stages of adopting our new plan."
