Sykes profits

NEWS - IN BRIEF

Pre-tax profits at specialist hirer Andrews Sykes halved from £14.6 million to £7.1 million in 2004 as the firm booked exceptionals of £5.2 million to cancel employee share options.

Chairman Jacques Murray also blamed unfavourable weather for a poor performance by the company's air conditioning division as turnover fell from £68 million to £62 million.
