T5 worker caught with pistol gets 3 years' jail

A WORKER on Heathrow's T5 project has been jailed for three years for possessing a gun.

Amec employee Robert John was found with a pistol and 41 cartridges after police searched his flat for scrap copper stolen from the site.

Mr John admitted possessing a prohibited weapon and ammunition without a certificate at Isleworth Crown Court.

Judge Jonathan Lowen said: 'You had no need for the gun and no training for it. When you were aware that the police were likely to search your premises you moved the gun and the ammunition for the purpose of avoiding detection.'
