Tarmac wins £40m highways contract

Tarmac has won an £40 million highways maintenance and improvement contract from Leicestershire County Council Highways Operations division.

The five-year agreement, worth £8 million annually, was awarded under the Leicestershire Highway Works Alliance and will begin immediately.

Based on the ECC Target Cost form of contract, the Leicestershire Highway Works Alliance is a partnering contract designed to achieve more than £500,000 of savings between now and 2010.

It covers seven district council areas including the towns of Loughborough and Melton Mowbray to the north, Market Harborough to the south east and Hinckley and Ashby-de-la Zouch to the west.

This is Tarmac’s third framework agreement. The firm already holds highways maintenance and improvement contracts for Nottinghamshire County Council and the Highways Agency’s Midlands Framework 3.
