Taylor Woodrow to overhaul former Hampshire hospital site

Taylor Woodrow is preferred developer for the first disused NHS site to be released under English Partnership's Hospital Sites Programme.
The contractor will build 1,000 new homes on a 38 ha site at the former Park Prewett hospital in Basingstoke, Hampshire. It is the first of 96 surplus NHS properties to be sold by the national regeneration agency.

English Partnership's portfolio of covers 1,600 ha and will generate up to £1 billion in public sector investment in the next five years.

During phase one, 884 homes will be built and another 130 homes will be construction in a later phase as part of the Design for Manufacture competition.

Taylor Woodrow and English Partnerships are set to complete the transaction in the New Year with work due to start in May 2006.
