Tenders out for rail job

TENDERS for a delayed £30 million rail scheme in south Wales have finally been issued.

Six teams have been waiting on documents from Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council since last May.The council had to resolve 'planning issues' before issuing the documents.

Amec, Jarvis, Mowlem, Balfour Beatty, Amey, and a Hochtief/Alun Griffiths joint venture will have until the end of this month to compile bids for the Ebbw Valley scheme.

A decision will be made in July. The winner will reopen a disused freight line for passenger use.
