Tesco submits plans for Fareham supermarket

Tesco has submitted plans for a new flagship town centre superstore in Fareham, Hampshire to Fareham Borough Council.

The supermarket giant made the move following a two-day public consultation last month, in which 80 per cent of residents backed the project, due to be built near the town’s Quay Street roundabout.

Some locals objected to the store because of the increased congestion it could cause but as part of its planning application Tesco has said it would pay for changes to the road system near the derelict old Foundry site.
