Testing time for Olympic workers

THE OLYMPICS will be used as a case study to examine how foreign workers operate on major construction projects.

ConstructionSkills has commissioned a research project in partnership with the Institute for Public Policy Research, which will examine the abour demand impact of large projects.

Guy Hazelhurst, deputy director of ConstructionSkills said: 'Migrant labour has always been a feature of the UK construction industry, and we recognise that it has a role to play, particularly in times of high demand.

'This research will enhance our understanding of the make-up of the UK construction workforce and how we best integrate migrant labour to ensure they are working safely and productively.'
