Thomas Vale seals £18m Stoke academy deal

Thomas Vale has announced it has reached financial close on the £18 million St Peter’s Academy in Stoke.

The contractors was appointed to the scheme as part of the £250m Stoke Building Schools for the Future programme.

The academy will provide facilities for up to 1,200 students aged 11-16, and up to 150 post-16 students, including specialist ICT, media, business, and technology and sports facilities.

Stoke on Trent City Council began developing plans for its BSF capital investment in secondary education in 2004.

Construction on the new multi million pound facilities will begin at the end of 2011 and will be ready for use by September 2013.

The news of financial close comes after the contractor announced its formalised joint-venture partnership to deliver combined skills and expertise in the design and build of Passivhaus-standard school, designed to minimise energy consumption whilst optimising the comfort of completed projects for end-users and occupants.
