Three chase £10m Leeds job

Three contractors will find out next week who has made it through to the second stage of a two-stage deal to build a £10 million dance headquarters in Leeds.

Allenbuild, Wates and Norwest Holst are all chasing the job which is being let by the Northern Ballet – a classical dance company – and the Phoenix Dance Theatre, which specialises in more contemporary productions.

Stage one bids went in last week and a decision on the second stage contractor will be made a week today (16 April).

The deal in the Quarry Hill area of the city will provide up to seven studios with support facilities including a physiotherapy and fitness suite.

Construction is expected to start next February.
