Cumbrian hirer and contractor Ken Hope used a Schaeff HML31 wheeled excavator to dig foundations for a rail bridge on the West Coast Mainline upgrade. The 8-tonne machine was specified for its manoeuvrability, essential for the Carlisle site, which featured steep embankments and low overhead clearance.
