Time to champion the role of the educators

LETTERS

Sir, I read with interest your recent article on Champions of the Decade and the only thing that I thought was missing was a stronger link with education.

For instance, here at Exeter College I have a colleague who in 30 years of training tradesmen has probably seen as many as 1,000 people qualify into the industry.

While I am not nominating him in particular, there is a need to raise the profile of education within the construction industry.

Perhaps a separate competition should be held at some time to look for a champion teacher, trainer or student ?

Your publication is an excellent source of information for my learners ? a good mixed bag.

Do keep it up, especially the reporting of health and safety issues and incidents, which helps to hammer the message home.
