Tolent chairman steps down

Tolent chairman Mike Speakman has stepped down as chairman of the building and civil engineering company today.

The 72-year-old will be replaced by Peter Hems who has become executive chairman with immediate effect.

Mr Speakman has been a director since 1999 and took over the role of chairman in March 2007 following the death of Stuart Gordon.

Mr Speakman has extensive experience in the construction industry and has agreed to continue with the company as a non-executive director.

Mr Hems is a chartered accountant who originally joined the board in June 2007 as a non executive director.
