Trade bodies may merge

THE LEADERS of three construction industry improvement bodies are looking at a potential merger in a bid to save money and time.

Constructing Excellence and Be - both formed by mergers last year - have begun 'convergence' talks along with research body Ciria to develop a more joined-up approach which could end in a possible merger.

Ciria chief executive Tim Broyd, currently in discussions with CE boss Dennis Lenard and Be chief executive Don Ward, said: 'We are looking to find areas where our organisations overlap.

'I don't know where the end point of these talks will be. It is about making the most effective use of money as well as time and effort.'
