Training call

A new report on specialist training provision is calling for an overhaul of on-site assessment and training to combat the low numbers of candidates achieving qualifications. According to the Bilbrough Report - jointly commissioned by the Construction Industry Training Board and the National Specialist Contractors Council - 16,000 candidates were registered onto the scheme in 1997 but only 2,838 had achieved NVQs by January.
