Training first for managers

ConstructionSkills has launched the industry’s first plant managers’ safety training scheme (PMSTS).

The five-day course has been designed along the same lines as the site management safety training scheme and covers tools to heavy plant.

The scheme is aimed at health and safety managers such as Steven Kemp, plant manager at Hughes and Salvidge, who took the pilot course.

He said: “I have had safety training in the past, but I never felt it was specific to plant.”
