Transport Scotland advertises £130m rail deal

Transport Scotland has advertised a railway contract worth up to £130 million in the Official Journal of the European Union.

The project, valued between £90 million and £130 million, will cover construction of around 2km of viaduct which will be used to carry a heavy rail service from an existing rail corridor at Paisley St James to Glasgow Airport.

Work will also cover bridges over minor roads and a single span crossing of M8 motorway. Around 1,500m of viaduct structure, elevated station building and associated works will also come under the deal.

Up to four bidders will be invited to tender for the two year deal. Firms have until 21 July to express an interest.
