Travis Perkins in new tile retail deal

Builders' merchant Travis Perkins has bought a Newcastle-Upon-Tyne-based business in its third acquisition of a tile-retailing chain in less than five months.

The listed giant today announced it had bought Tile It All from owner-managers Stephen and Shirley Bell.

Travis Perkins would not disclose how much it had paid for the business, which has 16 outlets, mostly across the North East and Scotland.

But the group revealed in a statement to the London Stock Exchange that Tile It All had underlying proifts of £1.3 million before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation for the year to last April.

The value of its gross assets stood at £3.2 million on 30 April last year.

Travis Perkins has pushed aggressively into the tile retailing market in recent months after acquiring Tile Giant, which has 29 outlets centred on the North of England and the Midlands, last November for £12 million.

The group last month announced it had also bought Tile Magic, a 17-store chain trading in London and the South East.
