Tribunals rise

Small contractors face a 44 per cent increase in compensation claims at industrial tribunals, according to specialist journal The Equal Opportunities Review.

Private firms paid £20 million compensation to staff last year. Sex discrimination accounted for 59 per cent of claims, disability 25 per cent and racial bias 15 per cent.
