Trio of bidders eyes £20m industrial job

DEVELOPER Mardon Properties is lining up at least three bidders to price a £20 million office and industrial development in south Wales.

Mardon director Nigel Webb said: 'We haven't finalised our tender list yet. We've lined up Midas, Dean & Dyball and Stradform so far, but we are expecting to add another couple of names to that.'

The scheme involves building 20,000 sq m of office space for small businesses at the Baglan Energy Park in Port Talbot. A round 90 pe r cen t of the space will be for light industry. It has already been backed by nearly £5 millionworth of funding from the Welsh Assembly.

Bid documents will go out to a final shortlist of firms within the next six weeks.

Construction work will begin on site in the autumn, subject to planning permission, and is due to finish by the middle of 2008.
