Tunnel collapse rail line to reopen

The Chiltern rail line is expected to be back to normal today after being closed for nearly two months due to a tunnel collapsing.
The line through Gerrards Cross in Buckinghamshire was closed on June 30 after a tunnel next to a new Tesco supermarket under construction gave way.

Chiltern Railways managing director Cath Proctor said the seven weeks it had taken to restart operations showed the scale of the investigations that had taken place to ensure the safety of passengers and staff.

In a question and answer leaflet on the company's website, the tunnel collapse was put down to the 'correct construction procedures' not being followed.
