Tunnel queue


Transport secretary Alistair Darling has given the goahead to the £180 million new Tyne crossing. The 1.5 km tunnel will run parallel to the existing Tyne Tunnel. Teams featuring Balfour Beatty, Nuttall, Laing O'Rourke and Bouygues have all been shortlisted for the PFI job.
