Turbines axes

A £55 million plan to build a wind farm near Tebay in Cumbria was axed by the Government last week.

The 27 turbines would have been 115 m high, st retching across an 11 mile area on the edge of the Lake District national park. But ministers agreed with local campaigners, who argued that the need to protect the local landscape outweighed the benefits of renewable energy.
