Two metre row confuses

THE CURRENT war of words between main contractors and access specialists over the re-introduction of the 2m rule looks set to create confusion rather than greater clarity in the industry about safety practices.

The call by major contractors to bring the 2m rule back into the next set of working at height legislation looks well-intentioned.

But an all-out battle will leave many confused about good practice. Sticking with the planned reforms brings the industry into line with Europe and the engineering sector and dovetails with existing practices, which makes good sense.
