University seeks bidders to provide site for £13m research facility

The University of East Anglia is looking for a firm with a site to house a new medical research building.

It has no site on which to construct the £13m facility and said it was “essential therefore that prospective bidders can provide their own site for this scheme”.

Any site proposed must be within 10 minutes’ walk of both the University’s Norwich campus and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and the building once constructed must be either sold to the university or let to it on a long lease.

The university wants the new building available by 2014 and said it must provide 826 sq m of teaching space, 350 sq m of technical space and 1,134 sq m of laboratories.

Achieving BREEAM ‘excellent’ standard “is envisaged”, the university said.
