Structural steel firm SeverfieldRowen of Dalton, North Yorkshire, has developed a patented handling system to save the backs of its workers. The 'OffLoad Safe' system means 260 kg of steel, as verified by Lloyds British Testing, can be lifted from trailers with a minimum risk of injury. The firm expects to start supplying the system commercially after keen industry interest from clients, other companies and the Health and Safety Executive.
