Village bypass


Birse, Kier, Alfred McAlpine and local rivals May Gurney and Jackson Civil Engineering are all pricing the £20 million A47 Thorney bypass in Cambridgeshire.

The 5 km dual carriageway will bypass the village of Thorney, near Peterborough, and will include a bridge and three roundabouts.Tenders go back to the Highways Agency on June 1 and a decision is due later that month.
