Voice of the subbies gains MBE

The chief executive of the National Specialist Contractors' Council, Suzannah Nichol, has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's birthday honours.
Ms Nichol, who won the recognition for services to the construction industry, was the NSCC's youngest chief executive when she took over in 2002 at the age of 30.

She has spoken up for specialist contractors on controversial issues such as retentions and the Inland Revenue's reform of the CIS tax system.

Before joining the council she worked as a safety manager with Lovell Construction and Bovis Engineering.
