Volvo sells compact grader arm

PLANT

VOLVO Construction Equipment has sold the compact side of its grader business, seven years after buying the firm, to the manager which was running the operation when Volvo bought it.

The new owner, Champion LLC of Charlotte, North Carolina in the US, is run by Gary Abernathy, who has managed the compact grader business since 1993.

The graders up to 7 tonnes will be marketed under the Champion brand, reviving the brand name they had before Volvo bought Champion Road Machinery in 1997.

Volvo dealers will be able to retain distribution rights and will support existing Volvo graders.

The sale leaves Volvo with the 15-20 tonne G700B range, built in Goderich, Canada.
