Warehouse investment

ENGLISH Partnerships has confirmed that it will sink £8.8 million into the £100 million Great Northern Warehouse Initiative in Manchester.

The investment should help to bring in additional public and private sector funding and means that work will be on course to start early in January 1998 on the mixed development.

The project includes refurbishing the warehouse to provide a convention centre, leisure complex and shops.

The scheme is being promoted by Morrison Merlin, a joint venture between Morrison Developments and Merlin International Properties.

Sources close to the scheme say that Morrison is odds-on favourite to carry out the construction work.
