WATCH: Ex-footballer Jimmy Bullard on his early life in construction

Former footballer Jimmy Bullard was on hand to help launch this year’s Open Doors at Alexandra Palace in North London today.

Jimmy Bullard at Open Doors

The journeyman who had notable stints at Wigan, Fulham and Hull, had an early taste of the industry, helping his father in his business, including renovating a Grade II-listed pub and later going on to build a family villa in the Algarve.

Bullard told Construction News: ”My dad was a builder, had his own company, and away I went as a boy of 16 coming out of school trying to earn a pound note.”

CN will be bringing you widespread coverage of Open Doors across the course of the week.
