Wave Hub tenders received

The South-west Resource Development Agency has received 11 tenders from contractors wanting to build its wave hub in the sea off 16km Hayle.

A spokesman for the agency said the tenders would now be reviewed and those shortlisted would be told on September 1.

This is the second time the organisation has asked for tenders for the electrical grid connection point.

In April Wave Hub general manager Nick Harrington said the South-west RDA had received two tenders and rejected both as it didn’t believe they were value for money.

He added: “We had hoped to have the project in the water late next year but as a result of the disappointing response from the market and the long lead in time to design the equipment, we have now decided to push back its installation to Spring 2010.”
