Wedgwood museum gets go-ahead

Plans for a £10 million museum in Stoke-on-Trent for pottery giant Wedgwood got the green light today with a cash injection of £6 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The development at Wedgwood's headquarters will house a priceless collection of pottery, manuscripts, pattern books and paintings dating back to the 18th century.

Regional development agency Advantage West Midlands donated £1 million to the project with contributions from the Staffordshire Environment Trust and other groups.

Work is set to start in January and the museum is expected to open in September 2007.
