Wembley sparks' jobs go

WEMBLEY labour agency Beaver Management Services has axed another 50 electricians as it winds down its workforce on the troubled stadium.

Site sources said the company cut 25 men on Tuesday with 25 due to leave tomorrow (Friday).

The BMS workforce has been slashed from nearly 500 to around 150 since the FA and main contractor Multiplex gave up on hopes to play May's FA Cup Final at Wembley.

BMS is subcontracting for electrical firm Phoenix and is understood to be pulling off the job by March 31.

Other M&E companies including Bristol outfit TB Woral are being drafted in to share the work with Phoenix, which has been supported financially on the job by Multiplex.

One insider said: 'There are a lot of discussions between Beaver, Multiplex and Phoenix over payment, and they're sharing out the M&E work to reduce the risks.' A BMS spokesman was unavailable to comment.

Steelwork contractor Hollandia has also laid off nearly 100 men .
