West Brom to expand Hawthorns

West Bromwich Albion is planning to install 3,500 seats to its Hawthorns stadium over the next three seasons.

The stadium currently seats 26,500 spectators and it is hoped the additional seating will provide significant extra match day revenue.

Owner Jeremy Peace said: “Our medium to long-term plans include an extension of the Hawthorns to around 30,000-seat capacity within the next three years.

“We believe it is the right thing to do as we endeavour to move the club forward and pro-actively encourage the next generation of supporters to come to the Hawthorns.”

He added that the stadium renovations would be completed “regardless of divisional status”.
