West Midlands to get new prison

A new 'Titan' prison, - big enough to hold 2,500 inmates, is to be built in the West Midlands, it has been announced.

No details have yet been announced about where in the region the prison will be based.

Justice Secretary Jack Straw said he had secured £1.2 billion for a building programme which will see the capacity of jails in England and Wales increase by more than 10,000 places to 96,000 by 2014.
