Wolstenholme to lead Egan review panel

The director of major building work at airports operator BAA has been asked to chair a panel reviewing the Egan Report – with a view to producing a major new industry report as a result.

The report, Rethinking Construction, came out 10 years ago next month and was produced by a taskforce led by industrialist Sir John Egan who had been asked by the then deputy prime minister John Prescott to assess the efficiency of the UK construction industry.

Now BAA’s director of capital projects Andrew Wolstenholme is chairing an industry-wide panel into the impact of the report.

Mr Wolstenholme added: ”My panel will be primarily looking forward to the next 10 years and seeks views as to what the future should be in the UK construction sector.”

The findings will form the basis of a new report which Mr Wolstenholme said will aim to set the agenda for the next 10 years.

He added: “The process of improvement is essential for the future prosperity of the UK built environment sector.”
