Worcester Bovis takes PFI hospital

A CONSORTIUM including Bovis has signed a contract for the design and construction of an £82 million PFI hospital in Worcester.

Catalyst Healthcare is set to start work soon on the site, which is next to the existing Newtown Hospital.

The new facility will open in spring 2002.

The designs for the building include an accident and emergency unit, eight operating theatres and space for 452 beds.

Other members of the consortium comprise RCO, The British Linen Bank and SG.

Bovis Facilities Management and RCO Support Services will manage and provide non-clinical support services, including energy management and general maintenance, over a 30-year period at the hospital.
