Worker death on Corus site

A 29-year-old maintenance worker was killed at the Corus Lackenby site on Teesside last Saturday.

Employee of manufacturer Vesuvius Kristian Norris, a father-of-two, died on the site about 3am.

It is unclear how Mr Norris was killed. Police and the Health and Safety Executive are investigating the incident.

Construction union UCATT said more needed to be done to avoid such incidents. Regional secretary John Scott said: "The death of any worker is tragic but particularly so when they were so young.

"Mr Norris’ death once again emphasised that you can never have too high a level of health and safety at work. We must all do more to ensure that there are not similar tragedies in the future."
