COSTAIN is planning to recruit hundreds of workers to fuel the company's expansion plans.
Chief executive Andrew Wyllie is also looking to assemble an 'A Team' on the executive board to oversee growth under his leadership.
He said: 'This is the beginning of a new chapter where we will focus resources and chase success in markets where we have a strong position.'
Half-year results showed a strong order book of £1.6 billion and Mr Wyllie believes there is room for further growth.
The former Taylor Woodrow Construction boss took over the reins at Costain last month.
He sees the nuclear sector as a future growth market.
Mr Wyllie said: 'It's relatively early days but there is an enormous opportunity for us there.'
