HS2 awards engineering and environment deals

HS2 Ltd has named six firms for engineering and environmental services for the second phase of the £33 billion high-speed rail link.

Six firms have been named across the two frameworks for the second phase, which includes links from Birmingham to Manchester and to Leeds through the East Midlands and South Yorkshire, as well as a spur connection from the phase one line to Heathrow.

Tender invitations were sent out in August and the firms will provide professional services to support phase two of the scheme through the consultation stage.

A preferred route for phase two is due to be set out by transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin this month.

Work package contracts will be awarded through secondary competitions.

The firms selected for the framework agreements are:

Lot 1 – Engineering services

  • AECOM
  • Hyder Consulting
  • Jacobs Engineering
  • Mott Macdonald

Lot 2 – Environmental services

  • Arup
  • Temple RSK JV
  • Mott MacDonald

All HS2 Ltd contracts are awarded following public body procurement rules based on the principles of equal treatment, transparency and non-discrimination.
