Heathrow's proposed third runway images released

Heathrow Airport Ltd has released images showing what its third runway could look like if the government gives it the go-ahead.

The images shows an artist’s impression of the new runway, as well as other developments that will be constructed alongside it.

The developments include the new central terminal that will serve the third runway, as well as an expanded business park.

The creation of the new runway will also see the widening of the M25 around Heathrow.

An image is included of how the new 14-lane road might look after completion.

The new images come two months after the Airports Commission led by Sir Howard Davies recommended Heathrow ahead of Gatwick as the preferred location for airport expansion in London.

On Monday, prime minister David Cameron announced that a decision on a third runway at Heathrow would be made by the government before Christmas.
